If it's your first time travelling during the COVID-19 outbreak, you'll notice a raft of new rules and restrictions in place. Follow these tips and make your getaway to Dachangshan Island a smooth one:

• Before you lock in a flight, find out if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your origin and destination. Get the latest updates by reviewing government travel advisories.
• You must wear a face mask at the airport, even at screening checkpoints. Be ready to adjust your mask for identification purposes when asked.

• TSA now permits passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will need to be removed from your bag and presented for screening.
• Remove personal items from your pocket, such as your wallet, keys and phone, and put them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will minimize handling during screening.
• Transport all food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Keeping food separate from your carry-on makes it less likely that a TSA employee will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.
